The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom introduced the Depths, an area where you'll find the lost souls of the Poes, and if you talk to the Bargaining Statue at Lookout Landing, you might find out pretty fast that you'll want to farm as many Poes as possible.

These little blue souls can be traded for various items like 
Bomb Flowers , clothing, and the locations of other Bargaining Statues in the Depths, as a collectible and currency. But you might be wondering how to get Poes in Tears of the Kingdom. It's a bit hard to farm for them, but it's doable if you have patience and the means to get into specific areas of the Depths.
Updated on June 19, 2023, by Tallis Spalding: As Tears of the Kingdom has finally settled into the community and people have had time to finally explore all the niches and figure out in what ways the game can be exploited without technically breaking it, so too has the best way to get Poes come to light.
It's still time-consuming, and there's no duplication glitch for Poes, but that doesn't mean you should give up hope. There are still areas that are better than others when it comes to figuring out how to get Poes, and there are ways that you can make your extended stay in the Depths while you collect Poes a much easier experience.
8 Return After Every Blood Moon
Once you collect some Poes, you might be slightly concerned that they won't come back, but like all things in Tears of the Kingdom, they will eventually respawn. The most consistent way Poes respawn so you can farm them is every Blood Moon. However, you should still be a bit picky about which areas you prioritize after every Blood Moon.
The best places to get Poes are the Abandoned Mines throughout the Depths and the area underneath Korok Forest. In these areas, you can collect a few Large Poes and at least one or two Grand Poes on top of whatever clusters of regular Poes are nearby.
7 Bring Gloom Combative Gear
As you wander through the Depths, you'll likely run into large patches of gloom or gloom-covered monsters, which will only make collecting Poes that much harder. To combat this and make farming Poes just a little bit easier, you should bring some meals cooked with 
Sundelions , which will restore hearts that have been broken and locked by gloom.
To play even more offense, you should consider picking up as much of the Gloom Resistant armor as you can from the Bargainer Statues will be key, as they give you temporary hearts that will take the first few gloom breaks for you.
6 Take The High Ground
When you're on the ground, it's hard to spot things that are far away - this is true whether you're in the Depths or you're on the surface. So, just as you would do on the surface, climb to the highest point you can safely reach and stand on.
From there, you can look around with the naked eye, or you can look around with the Purah Pad to scout out your next target. Rather than jumping down as soon as you see a single Poe, however, take some time and look for larger groups so you can make your time climbing worth it. As great as Tears of the Kingdom is, climbing for extended periods of time isn't the most thrilling thing.
5 Use Map Markers
You should be well aware that the Depths are dark at this point. They're dark enough that it can be difficult to realize if there's an object jutting in the way that will eventually cut off sight of your goal. Whether you drop into an unexpected cavern or end up disoriented in the dark without a sense of direction, thanks to not activating the Lightroot yet, losing the little Poes scattered throughout is easy and inevitable.

To try and combat this before it becomes a problem, take advantage of your Purah Pad and drop map markers on areas where you spot large groups of Poes or where you see Grand or Large Poes. Even if you don't have the area's Lightroot activated, you can still navigate your way to these areas, and you won't lose track of where you are.
4 Look For Grand And Large Poes
Although small Poes are more common and often found in groups, you should keep your eyes peeled for Grand Poes and Large Poes. If you spot one, prioritize getting to them because these single flames will offer you up to 20 Poes for the Grand Poes and five for the Large Poes, making your farming a breeze because, like small Poes, they are rarely alone.
Grand Poes are much harder to find, but they're recognizable by the reddish-pink wisp to them and the fact that they're the largest version of a Poe. Large Poes are slightly more common and are recognizable by their wisping green and blue light and are larger than regular Poes.
Both types of special Poe are generally found at higher points or on top of objects in the Depths. If you want to find some quickly, venture into the area underneath the Korok Forest. Here you can cleanse it of gloom and collect quite a few Poes for your purse.
3 Hold Off On The Brightblooms
When you first dive into the Depths, it may be instinct to whip out your bow and arrow and attach a brightbloom to the tip or grab one to throw. After all, the last thing you want to do is fall from an unexpected height, land in the middle of some gloom, or make your landing in the middle of a monster's nest.
But you should probably forgo this instinct if you're trying to farm up some Poes to earn some sweet gear (and restock your bomb flowers). One of the most notable things about Poes is that they glow in the dark. Whether they're in packs or they're floating all by their lonesome, they are incredibly easy to spot when you're surveying a dark area, which helps to cut down on your Poe farming time.
When you launch a brightbloom into an area around you, you're unintentionally making it harder for yourself to spot any Poes that might have been in that area. That doesn't mean you shouldn't throw down some 
Brightbloom Seeds while you're in the Depths; it just means that you should pick and choose your moment carefully.
2 Don't Teleport With Lightroots
That's right, teleporting between the Lightroots will probably only prove harmful in your search for Poes. Unless you're trying to locate the various brethren of the poe collector on the surface, you should run around the Depths on foot.

The only reason to actually teleport to a Lightroot when you're on the lookout for Poes is that you're trying to get to a certain area in the Depths faster, or you're doing a once-over in an area you've already run through. Teleporting between the various Lightroots of the Depths will only prolong your search time because you're, more than likely, going to end up looking over patches of Poes that might be more hidden than others.
1 Find A New Entrance
When all else fails, and you're struggling to track down new Poes in your area, whether they're individuals or clusters, it's time to move on. You could teleport to a different Lightroot, as previously suggested, but you could also go onto the surface and find an entrance to the Depths that you haven't jumped into.
Teleporting to a new Light Root will just put you on the edge, or in the middle, of an area that you've already explored. And if you're searching for Poes to fork over to one of the various offering statues, whether in the Depths or at Lookout Landing, you'll be best served jumping straight into the middle of a brand-new area. Finding large patches of Poes, rather than single-lonely patches, will be a breeze this way.
